• End-of-summer celebration Sunday includes Lucky Duck Pluck, Soggy Doggy Day swim
BROOKINGS – If you need that one last splash in the pool before school starts, better hurry – this Sunday, Aug. 24, the Hillcrest Aquatic Center will close for the year.
The summer fun season at the municipal pool won’t end quietly, though. As it has in the past, the aquatic center will host two major events as part of its 2014 grand finale: the annual Lucky Duck Pluck, and the concluding Soggy Dog Day swim.
The Lucky Duck Pluck, offering thousands of dollars worth of prizes for “duck owners,” benefits Brookings Habitat for Humanity, while the Soggy Dog celebration puts owners and pets together in the pool – to benefit the Brookings Area Humane Society, naturally. For the complete article see the 08-22-2014 issue.
