Winners performing with local symphony

SDSU-Civic Symphony members, under the direction of John Brawand, perform in 2012. This year the 55 university students and community members will perform a concerto-aria with six vocalists from the South Dakota State University Music Department in a free concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in the Performing Arts Center.

BROOKINGS – Winners of a campus contest for SDSU music students will perform vocal solos with the South Dakota State University-Civic Symphony when it presents its annual concerto-aria concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in the Performing Arts Center.

John Brawand, symphony director, said six students from applied music courses were selected for this Sunday’s free concert at a Nov. 16 contest. This will be their only public presentation of their winning operatic selections.
