BROOKINGS – If you’re planning an entry for the Fourth of July Parade, now’s the time to let organizers know. After a brief hiatus, longtime sponsor Brookings Radio is back to take over the 11 a.m. Independence Day “march down Main.”
As in past years, it’ll be a loosely arranged event, and there’s no theme other than patriotism and the celebration of the nation’s birthday, says Kelli Hanson, Brookings Radio general manager. Ten days out, the only thing certain about the holiday parade is that it will be led by the American Legion Color Guard.
Hanson says although parade organizers will accept participants nearly up to the time the parade starts on July 4, the earlier they know who’s coming, the better. Preregistering will avoid a lot of parade-morning confusion.
