BROOKINGS – Future teachers in the South Dakota National Education Association-Student Program at South Dakota State University are developing a Fun Food Factory nutrition project for 150 children at the Boys & Girls Club of Brookings.
The Boys & Girls Club hosts many events and activities for children who need a safe place to spend after-school hours. The future teachers will act as positive role models through this project as they prepare creative, healthy foods with the students while teaching them nutritional facts and exercising with them.
The recipes and nutrition ideas are meant to be shared at home so the students can continue practicing healthy eating habits. The future teachers have been planning throughout the spring semester for the April 5 event.
