BROOKINGS – Award-winning photojournalist James Whitlow Delano will address “Chinese Soft Power, WikiLeaks, and a Small Amazonian Country” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in Bailey Rotunda Room D on the campus of South Dakota State University.
His lecture is open to the public.
According to Delano, as the balance of power in the Americas shifts from the U.S. toward China, Suriname has become a pawn of both countries. Through its release of thousands of secret diplomatic documents, WikiLeaks opened a curtain into the unseen U.S. diplomatic reactions to the expanding Chinese influence in the Americas.
