• Abuse shelter’s traveling fundraiser inspired by Hobo Day
BROOKINGS – If a hobo comes up to you next week and asked that you pull out your leather poke and hand him a lump, will you know what he means?
For some Brookings residents, that will soon be important information. A gang of 15 “hobos” has arrived in town and is looking to “flop” on the yards of local homeowners. It’s a good-spirited Hobo Day fundraiser for the Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter, and homeowners are asked to give a lump (a donation) to the shelter so the ‘bos will find a new place to nap.
