It isn’t just the trees putting on an autumn show in Brookings – these McCrory Gardens flowerbeds were spectacular on a sunny Tuesday. Many residents have commented that the fall foliage hereabouts was the best in recent memory, but the outdoor show came to a sudden halt Wednesday as northwesterly winds gusted into the area. Today looks to be chilly, windy and overcast, and the cool ‘n breezy forecast continues through Friday, so it’s likely the local autumn glory has slipped away. Still, even with a good share of its leaves already on the ground, Brookings is faring better than its northerly neighbors, some of whom have 6-12 inches of snow in their forecasts.
