BROOKINGS – Brookings police are investigating three separate acts of intentional damage to property.
The incidents were all reported on Friday, Lt. Derrick Powers said. Noting that two of the cases of vandalism occurred in the same general area, Powers said they might have been linked.
The first report, made Friday shortly before 9 a.m., involved a broken window at Reflections Hair Design at 628 Main Ave. The reporting party said someone broke the window between 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday morning.
An officer on patrol early Friday morning observed that some mailboxes had been damaged in the 200 block of Seventh Street South. An owner contacted later said it will cost about $200 to replace the post and stand for his custom-made mailbox. The vandalism is believed to have taken place between 10 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.
