BROOKINGS – Sometimes it doesn’t pay when you try to help out a friend.
A Brookings woman was doing just that Monday – helping to water a friend’s plants – when a man living at the residence took exception to the good deed and punched her in the face, knocking out one of her front teeth.
Needless to say, the injured Good Samaritan immediately called the police, who arrived and arrested the man for simple assault.
The altercation took place around 1:45 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Medary Avenue, according to Brookings Police Lt. Derrick Powers.
