• More than $76K stolen by Sinai finance officer over seven years
BROOKINGS – The former City of Sinai finance officer who embezzled more than $76,000 has been sentenced to 20 days in jail and 18 months of supervised probation.
Tammy L. Norgaard, 34, pleaded guilty last month to one count of grand theft.
According to court documents, she was accused of stealing from Sinai’s public funds between January 2006 and September 2012.
All the stolen money has been repaid. In exchange for Norgaard’s guilty plea, State’s Attorney Clyde Calhoon recommended a suspended imposition of sentence.
