• Businesses pass test with flying colors
BROOKINGS – It was no joke, April Fool’s or otherwise.
On Thursday of last week, the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office conducted one of its routine alcohol compliance checks, and for the first time since officers have been conducting the sales-to-minors tests, not a single business in rural Brookings County would sell alcohol to an underage buyer.
Sebring said deputies enlisted a 20-year-old to assist them in the random testing, and all of the nine businesses visited refused to sell alcohol to the underage buyer.
