Four sent to hospital in icy collision

• Truck slides into path of SUV on South Main

BROOKINGS – Four people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries late Tuesday afternoon following a head-on collision on the south edge of Brookings.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, just north of the intersection of Main Avenue South and 32nd Street South.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says a 1991 Chevy truck was northbound on Main, with 18-year-old Elias Bonnemann of Brookings behind the wheel and 12-year-old Rebekah Bonnemann as passenger.

A 1995 Chevy Suburban was being driven south on Main by 62-year-old David Wells of Brookings, and 55-year-old Susan Wells was passenger.
