Pickup smashes rural mailboxes

BROOKINGS – A rural Brookings driver made an “unauthorized delivery” Saturday (Feb. 2) at a group of mailboxes on Opland Loop.

The “delivery” was a pickup that smashed into the mailboxes, and the driver, after hitting the boxes, left the scene without reporting the crash.

According to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, a resident who lives on Opland Loop witnessed the accident at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
