Brookings ER kept busy with injuries from falls
BROOKINGS People leaving their homes Monday morning quickly discovered that the streets and sidewalks of Brookings were ice-covered and difficult to traverse.
More than a few pedestrians went down, but thankfully not for the count, local healthcare workers report.
"We were busy," said Karen Weber, who oversees the emergency department at the Brookings Health System: a total of 10 ice-related injuries contusions, sprains, fractures were seen in a 24-hour period. All but one were treated and released.
