Up the creek, but with two paddles

BROOKINGS – Stealing a canoe when the waterways hereabouts are iced over may not make a lot of sense, but that’s what somebody did in Brookings this week.

In any event, it was a crime of opportunity.

A canoe had been temporarily moved outside a storage building in the 400 block of Front Street when someone apparently loaded it up and drove off with it, according to a report taken Wednesday by the Brookings Police Department.
