BROOKINGS – A Husqvarna chainsaw, orange in color and valued at $450, was heisted from a pickup parked in Brookings. And a pair of porcelin lions valued at $50 each were lifted from outside a Brookings residence. Both thefts happened within the past week.
Brookings Police Lt. Derick Powers said the 18-inch chainsaw was in the back of a pickup parked in the 700 block of Western Avenue. The chainsaw was reported missing late Monday morning. The theft occured sometime between the afternoon of Oct. 4 and the afternoon of Oct. 5.
Meanwhile, someone with an eye for outside decoration lifted "two porcelin lion statues from outside a residence in 1000 block of Fourth Street." The pair of leos are about 30 inches tall. The theft was reported on Monday; it occured sometime between Sunday evening and Monday morning.
