Driver leaves scene of crash

Posted: Wednesday, Jun 27th, 2012

WHITE – The driver of a gold-colored truck had some trouble with a utility pole in White early Sunday morning, and the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the aftermath of the vehicle-pole contest.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said his office responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident near the Methodist Church in White.

The reporting party said that a gold vehicle – an SUV or a truck – struck a utility pole and an evergreen tree near the church. The incident was reported at 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

The driver left the scene of the mishap, but he or she also left some parts behind. The investigating deputy located a gold-colored molding and a heated mirror and mirror assembly.

Estimates of the damage to the pole and the tree have not yet been calculated.

Sebring asked that anyone with information about the case contact the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office at 605-696-8300 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously by visiting www.brookingsareacrimestoppers.com online or by calling 605-692-STOP (7867).
