Mountain bike taken from garage

BROOKINGS, The thief must have been familiar with the child's mountain bike reported stolen Thursday, because he had to enter a Brookings family's garage to get it.
Brookings police reported that the bicycle was likely taken during the overnight hours Wednesday from a home in the 1300 block of 17th Avenue South.

Man thrown from ATV in rollover north of Brookings

BROOKINGS, A Brookings man was injured Monday when the brakes on his four-wheel all-terrain vehicle failed and the ATV crashed into a ditch and rolled.
Yossry Mohamed, 20, was not seriously injured in the accident.

Fireworks set off in Brookings apartments

BROOKINGS, The investigation into a trio of fireworks-related fire calls continues today after Brookings firefighters were sent to a pair of local apartments Tuesday night.
All three incidents, in which fireworks were set off in two buildings and a nearby dumpster was found smoldering, are believed to be related, Fire Chief Darrell Hartmann said.
