Jacks signs stolen

BROOKINGS, Jackrab-bit memorabilia was stolen from a front yard and Brookings Police are looking for the culprit, said Lt. Derrick Powers.
The report was received Friday, April 22, and the theft occurred at a residence in the 300 block of 21st Avenue South, he said.

BROOKINGS, It was an early morning for Brookings firefighters who were called to a fire about 2 a.m. Thursday, said Fire Chief Darrell Hartmann.
The call came from the Days Inn that there was a fire in the Ground Round restaurant.

The report was filed at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday and occurred at 2015 U.S. Highway 14, said Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring.

Burglar hits city home

BROOKINGS, Numerous items were taken from a residence that was burglarized Sunday, according to Brookings Police.
The theft was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday and occurred at a residence in the 700 block of 13th Street West some time between 5 p.m. on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Derrick Powers.

Minn. man arrested for assaulting officer

BROOKINGS, A man was arrested for assaulting a Brookings Police officer Saturday, said Lt. Derrick Powers.
The 22-year-old resident of Jordan, Minn., was arrested for simple assault against a law officer and transported to the Brookings County Detention Center, Powers said.

15 busted at party near Volga

VOLGA, Fifteen people were busted at a large underage drinking party reported at 2:25 a.m. Sunday at 46681 210th St. in rural Volga, according to the Brookings County Sheriff's Office.
"The three renters of the property, 23-year-old Joseph Adelmann, 22-year-old Dustin Bothwell and 20-year-old Taylor Kruger, are facing charges of common nuisance for hosting the party," said Assistant Sheriff Scott

BROOKINGS, More windows have been shot out, according to the Brookings County Sheriff's Office. One incident was at a business, the other at a residence.
At 10:23 a.m. Friday, deputies from the Brookings County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Brookings Police Department responded to a window that had just been shot at Porter's Toys for Big Boys at 1723
