LAKE PRESTON De Smet outscored Lake Preston 9-7 in overtime to come away with a 54-52 victory in boys' basketball action on Thursday.

With the score tied at 45-45 at the end of regulation, the Bulldogs got the best of the Divers in the extra period.

The two teams battled backand-forth all night, with Lake Preston holding a one-point edge heading into the fourth quarter.

Damian Kannegieter paced the Bulldogs with a game-high 16 points. Matt Anderson had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds as De Smet improved to 7-6 .

EJ Salazar had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Divers. Chase Casper had 11 points and Isaac Wilde had 12 rebounds and eight points as Lake Preston fell to 4-9 .

Both teams will face Castlewood in their next game. Lake Preston hosts Castlewood on Saturday and De Smet hosts the Warriors on Monday.

Deubrook Area 77 Arlington 76

ARLINGTON Ninthranked Class A Deubrook slipped past Arlington for a 77-76 Dakota Valley Conference boys basketball win on Thursday night.

With the win, the Dolphins improved to 11-3 overall and 4-0 in the DVC. The Cardinals fell to 10-5 and 4-3 .

Ben Engelstad poured in 32 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for Deubrook. Shawn Hogue added 14 points.

Terran Chapin threw in 32 points for Arlington. Kyle Krahn chipped in with 14 points and Austin King had 10.

Arlington hosts Florence/ Henry on Tuesday while Deubrook Area hosts Oldham/ Ramona-Rutland on Thursday.
