Deuel drops Dolphins in OT

TORONTO Deuel outscored Deubrook Area 5-4 in the overtime period for a 44-43 victory over the Dolphins in boy's basketball action on Monday in Toronto.

With the scored tied at 39-39 at the end of the fourth, the two teams had to battle it out in overtime, with the Cardinals barely escaping with the win.

Entering the final quarter, Deubrook Area was trailing Deuel 36-31 but limited the Cardinals to just three points in the frame to force overtime.

Brock Hanten had 12 points as the Cardinals improved to 3-9 . Ryan Effling had 11 points and Alex Esche chipped in nine points. Shawn Hogue paced the Dolphins with 11 points. Derrick Sheffield chipped in 10 points and Ben Englestad added eight points and 11 rebounds as Deubrook Area fell to 10-3 . Deubrook Area visits Arlington on Thursday while Deuel hosts Aberdeen Roncalli on Friday. Elkton-Lake Benton 71, Flandreau Indian 52

FLANDREAU The Elks doubled up Flandreau Indian in the third quarter en route to a 71-52 nonconference win at FIS on Monday night.

Elkton-Lake Benton scored 16 points while limiting FIS to eight to increase its lead to 53-37 .

Buck Barber scored 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Elks. Zach Trautman added 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Cody Hendricks contributed 10 points.

Elkton-Lake Benton improved to 10-3 and host Great Plains Lutheran on Friday. Oldham-Ramona /



Rutland 51, Florence-Henry 23

RAMONA Oldham-Ramona /Rutland jumped out to a 19-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised to a 51-23 victory over Florence-Henry in girls' basketball action on Saturday in Ramona.

After pushing the lead to 18 at halftime, the Raiders cruised in the second half, holding the Falcons to just six points after the break.

Chelsea Malcomb led ORR with 12 points and five assists, as the Raiders improved to 9-5 . Kelly Thurow had eight points and 11 rebounds and Bree Olson chipped in eight points.

ORR hosts Hurley tonight in Rutland.
