BROOKINGS – South Dakota State beat the University of Winnipeg, 12-2, in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday at Erv Huether Field.

The Jackrabbits grabbed an early 3-0 lead and then pulled away with six runs in the fourth.

Eighteen different Jackrabbits had at least one plate appearance and SDSU used eight pitchers in the win over the Wesmen, who are currently transitioning to full NAIA status.

Aaron Machbitz opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning.

SDSU took advantage of a fielding error in the second, as Zach Coppola and Sam Pack both scored on a dropped fly ball with two outs.
