• Harrisburg claims Class A title in state tourney debut; Warner drops De Smet in Class B
RAPID CITY – Fifth-seeded Sioux Falls Lincoln wrapped up an improbable Class AA state girls’ basketball tournament run with a 51-36 victory over Mitchell in the title game on Saturday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
The Patriots opened with a 41-37 victory over No. 4 Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Thursday; followed it up with a 50-48 win over top-seeded Aberdeen Central in the semifinals on Friday; and then took down the defending champions to clinch the first state girls’ basketball championship in school history.
In a matchup of the top two seeds, No. 2 Sioux Falls Washington defeated No. 1 Aberdeen Central 54-49 for third place. Rapid City Central edged Sioux Falls Roosevelt 50-49 in the fifth-place game, while Sioux Falls O’Gorman doubled up Sturgis 46-23 for seventh.For the complete article see the 03-11-2013 issue.
