BROOKINGS – There were no opening-round surprises in Friday’s action at the 2013 State Boys’ Varsity Hockey Tournament at Larson Ice Center as third-seeded Oahe downed No. 6 Huron, 7-5; second-seeded Sioux Falls dispatched No. 7 Mitchell, 5-1; fourth-seeded Rushmore got past No. 5 Watertown, 8-5; and the top-seeded Brookings Rangers demolished No. 8 Aberdeen, 10-0.
The Capitals and Flyers met Saturday at 5 p.m. and the Thunder and Rangers squared off at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinals. Meanwhile, the All Stars and Marlins faced off at noon and the Lakers and Cougars went at 2:30 p.m. in the consolation bracket for a shot at the consolation championship.
