PeeWee 2 Rangers win state championship

The PeeWee 2 Rangers posted a 3-0 record to win the PeeWee B State Tournament in Rapid City last weekend. The Rangers defeated the Rushmore Thunder Gold, 9-4, in the title game after opening with a 4-1 win over the Watertown Lakers before beating the Rushmore Thunder Black, 5-3, in the semifinals. Members of the team include (from left): Front row  Riley Jacobsen, Jack McCarty, Royal Grindeland III, Austin Lesnar, Dylan Park and Alex Kuck; Middle row Coach Walker Liles, Joel Syrstad, Carter Shoup, Noah Drew, Luc Bouchard, Sajen Perry and Coach Dan Park; Back row  Kaden Vugteveen, Sean Sullivan, Evan Becher and Alec Nielson.

The PeeWee 2 Rangers beat the Rushmore Thunder Gold, 9-4, in the championship game of the PeeWee B State Tournament in Rapid City over the weekend after entering as the top seed.

The Rangers opened against Watertown and were tied 1-1 after a period as Carter Shoup and Jack McCarty set up a Riley Jacobsen goal.

Shoup scored an unassisted power-play goal at the 5:02 mark of the second to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead after two.
