Castlewood clips Cossacks

VOLGA – Stephanie Kerkvliet made a layup with 3 seconds left to lift Castlewood past Sioux Valley, 46-45, in a girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday night.

Kerkvliet got loose underneath the hoop on the Warriors’ inbounds play on the endline, finishing off a big night with the game-winning shot.

“We packed it in with our 2-3 (zone) but we didn’t have help-side (defense), so that led to an opportunity for them,” Sioux Valley head coach Leah Pitts said of the play.
