ROCHESTER, Mich. – South Dakota State’s Nate Wolters had a big game and broke another school career record; however, it again came in a loss as Oakland went 16-of-30 from 3-point range and beat the Jackrabbits, 88-83, in a Summit League men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon at the O’rena.
Following a 53-point outburst at Fort Wayne on Thursday, Wolters finished with 36 points – on 12-of-20 shooting – seven assists and six rebounds. The senior point guard moved his career assist total to 609, breaking the mark of 605 set by Brian Norberg from 1995-99.
“(The assists record) is almost more important to me than the points record,” said Wolters, who broke the SDSU career scoring record in a 74-71 loss at South Dakota on Jan. 5. “You don’t want to just be a guard that can score, you want to distribute the ball as well and make your teammates better.”
