WHITE – In a matchup of conference tournament champions, Sioux Valley shook off a slow start to beat Deubrook Area, 48-30, in a girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday evening.
The Cossacks, who successfully defended their Big East Conference tournament title over the weekend, opened the second half on a 19-0 run – turning a four-point deficit into a 33-18 lead with less than 3 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
“At halftime, we made some adjustments,” said Sioux Valley head coach Leah Pitts. “We were very timid offensively in the first half – the high post was open; we can hit some of those jumpers; and score on their press."
