Second-half lifts Sioux Valley

VOLGA – Coming off a heart-breaking loss followed by a 10-day layoff, the Sioux Valley girls’ basketball team was anxious to get back on the court. And the Cossacks took advantage of their return to the hardwood Tuesday night with a 61-45 victory over Hamlin.

“That loss hurt big time,” said Sioux Valley head coach Leah Pitts, referring to a 38-37 setback to Estelline in the Swiftel Classic on Dec. 28. “But I think it motivated us to come back and work hard in practice and (win) our next game."
