BROOKINGS – Creighton outscored South Dakota State, 20-8, in points off turnovers and that proved to be enough of an advantage as the Blue Jays escaped with a 63-54 nonconference win over the Jackrabbits on Wednesday at Frost Arena.
SDSU turned the ball over 10 times as the Jacks dropped their home opener to Creighton – one of the Missouri Valley’s preseason favorites.
The Jays took advantage of a Jackrabbit turnover to collect an easy basket in the paint which pushed their lead to 12 points, 48-36, with 8:31 remaining in the game, but SDSU put together a 10-2 run over the next three minutes to pull within four.
