BROOKINGS – South Dakota State overcame a sloppy second half to post its 18th consecutive home victory, 78-71 over Tennessee State in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday night at Frost Arena.

After leading by as many as 17 during a solid first-half showing, the Jackrabbits saw their lead cut to three – 57-54 – with 6:58 remaining. A layup by Tony Fiegen and a pair of free throws by Jordan Dykstra put SDSU up 61-54 with 6:02 left.

Later, layups by Taevaunn Prince and Brayden Carlson sandwiched around a Nate Wolters putback in the paint pushed the lead back to double digits – 69-58 – with 4:08 to play.
