Spearfish led 4-0 at halftime and limited Brookings to six shots in the game. Billy Stewart made nine saves for the ‘Cats in the loss. In other first-round matches, Sioux Falls Washington beat Rapid City Central 3-2, Yankton defeated Watertown 2-0 and Sioux Falls Lincoln dropped Pierre 3-2 (shootout). Brookings faces Rapid City Central in a consolation semifinal today at 10 a.m.
