CWL sweeps Aurora, Kingsbury County

CLARK – Clark-Willow Lake pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of five Aurora errors to sweep Post 230 in an American Legion doubleheader on Saturday in Clark.

CWL posted wins by game scores of 7-4 and 14-2 to improve to 13-14 on the season.



Game 1

• CWL 7, Aurora 4

Justin Sweet and Austin Held had two hits apiece and each scored a run to lead the Post 230 offense. Tyler Madler doubled and drove in a run while Adam Palmer finished with a hit and run scored and Aaron Held singled and collected an RBI.

Jake Karber drove in two runs while Rhett Florey doubled to lead Clark-Willow Lake’s offense.

Clark-Willow Lake used a 10-run third inning to power to a 14-2 five-inning win in the nightcap.

Sweet singled, doubled and drove in a run for Aurora as Austin Held had Post 230’s third hit while Palmer and Hanson each scored a run.

Garrett Schmidt and Colin LaBrie had two hits apiece to lead CWL. Florey, Karber and Schmidt all hit triples as the game ended early via the 10-run rule.

Friday’s Games

ARLINGTON – Clark-Willow Lake opened its weekend with a doubleheader sweep of Kingsbury County in American Legion baseball action on Friday in Arlington.

CWL cruised to a 21-10 win in the opener before winning the nightcap, 12-7.



Game 1

• CWL 21, Kingsbury County 10

Ten different players scored for Clark-Willow Lake as Garrett Schmidt led the offense with three hits and three RBIs. Jake Karber, Jeff McGraw, Levi Sauder, Colin LaBrie and Andrew Wegner added two hits apiece.

Zach Warnke had a pair of hits and two RBIs for Kingsbury County. Also picking up hits were Austin Gilbertson, Andrew Foley, Chris Kangas and Brant Gilbertson.

Half of Clark-Willow Lake’s hits went for extra bases as CWL completed the sweep with a win in the nightcap.

Sauder doubled twice and drove in three runs to lead CWL. Rhett Florey added a double and triple to drive in three runs while LaBrie and Karber added a pair of hits.

Warnke drove in two runs with a single and double as Kangas, Foley and Tanner Geiman each connected for a double.
