BROOKINGS The Brookings Bullets 16 posted a pair of run-rule victories against Sioux Falls East in a VFW baseball doubleheader Monday at Bob Shelden Field.
Brookings won by the scores of 13-3 (5 innings) and 15-5 (6 innings).
The Bullets 16 (5-0) play host to two Pierre teams in a doubleheader today beginning at 2 p.m.
Game 1
Brookings 13, S.F. East 3 (5 inn.)
The Bullets took control early with a nine-run first inning.
Carter Roach led the 13-hit attack with three singles, while also adding two RBIs.
Cody Shepardson had two doubles and three RBIs. Kyle Krogman and Garrett Gerstner added two hits and one RBI apiece; and Bryce McMacken doubled.
Jordan Lerdal earned the pitching win after allowing three runs two earned on six hits, with six strikeouts and three walks, in five innings.
Cason Heier had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs to pace Sioux Falls East.

The Bullets scored five runs in both the second and fifth innings, before completing the sweep with a three-run sixth.
Gerstner hit a two-run home run in the first inning and finished with three RBIs.
Krogman, Roach and Logan Busch each had three of Brookings 14 hits. Krogman tripled and had three RBIs; Roach had two RBIs; and Busch notched an RBI double.
Mack Burns added two hits, including a triple; and Jared Tschetter doubled. Shepardson drove in a pair of runs.
Trevor Hornig was credited with the win on the mound, giving up two runs one earned on four hits, with seven strikeouts and three walks, over four innings. Sam Schutt tossed the final two frames.
Justin Miller went 3-for-3, including a triple and a double, with two RBIs to pace Sioux Falls East.
