Undefeated Bobcats take on 1-2 Lynx

The Bobcat juggernaut rolls on.
Brookings ran its record to 3-0 with a 62-12 pounding of Spearfish last week ¬, the first time since 2008 that the ‘Cats have opened the season with three straight wins.

BLAINE, Minn., Springfield scored once in each period to down the Brookings Blizzard, 3-2, in the North American Hockey League opener at the NAHL Showcase Tournament at the Schwan Super Rink on Wednesday.
Joseph Carney got the Jr. Blues on the scoreboard seven minutes into the contest and then Tim Faulkner pushed Springfield's lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal

BROOKINGS, Brookings and Sioux Falls O'Gorman split a softball doubleheader Tuesday at Southside Field, with the Bobcats winning the opener 7-2 and the Lady Knights taking the nightcap by an 8-6 margin.
Alex DeGroot went 7-for-7 with two triples and two doubles in the twinbill.

MANHATTAN, Kan., Kylee Zumach and Brooke Sassin both had 10 kills as Kansas State swept South Dakota State 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 in a nonconference volleyball match Tuesday at Ahearn Field House.

BROOKINGS, Yankton senior Jace Guthmiller earned medalist honors and Brandon Valley won the team title at the annual Brookings Invitational on Saturday at the 6,770-yard, par-72 Brookings Country Club.
Guthmiller fired a 1-over-par 73 in chilly and windy conditions. The start of the event was pushed to 8:30 a.m. due to frost on the course.

BROOKINGS, Iowa went 4-0 in the SDSU Challenge, including a 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 victory over the host Jackrabbits in the finale Saturday night at Frost Arena.

MONTROSE, Mariah VanderWal led Sioux Valley to a 25-8, 22-25, 26-24, 25-13 victory over McCook Central/Montrose in the Big East Conference volleyball tournament third-place match Saturday evening.
The senior middle totaled 16 of the team's 42 kills, adding two blocks (one solo) and a pair of service aces.

WATERTOWN, The Bobcat softball team posted a 1-2 record on Saturday as Brookings beat Mitchell, 2-1, but dropped a 9-4 decision to Rapid City Central and lost 6-2 to the host Arrows.

WATERTOWN, The Bobcats lost one game to Sioux Falls Roosevelt, 8-2 , but came back and played Rapid City Central to an 11-11 tie in girls' softball action on Friday in Watertown.
The Riders sandwiched a pair of two-run innings around a four-run second inning as the game was called after four.
