PHOENIX, The South Dakota Rushmores 70-over team opened the MSBL World Series with a pair of wins, beating the Scorpions 8-7 and the New England Red Sox 23-2 on Monday.
Harvey Austin (Greenwood, Ind.) drove in the winning run for South Dakota in the top of the ninth inning against the Scorpions.

Justin Syrovatka nailed a 44-yard field goal with 1:42 remaining and Melvin Taveras sealed the deal with a late interception as South Dakota State defeated Northern Iowa 31-28 in what Jackrabbit head coach John Stiegelmeier called a "unique" Missouri Valley Football Conference game Saturday evening.

ESTELLINE, Elkton-Lake Benton swept all four of its matches to win the Dakota Valley Conference volleyball tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Elks topped De Smet 25-15, 25-14 and Deubrook Area 25-21, 25-14 in the Gold Division. They dropped Lake Preston 25-18, 25-11 and Estelline 25-10, 25-19 in pool play.

Tagyn Larson recorded 19 kills and three service aces to pace the Rough Riders.

Blizzard solve Magicians with 5-4 road triumph

RICHFIELD, Minn., Beau Michaud scored a power-play goal with 17:35 remaining and the Brookings Blizzard broke through against the MN Magicians for a 5-4 victory in NAHL action Saturday night.
It marked the fourth meeting between the two teams in a nine-day stretch, with the Magicians winning the first three (including two in shootouts).

SDSU announces 2015 baseball schedule

BROOKINGS, Twenty-one home games at Erv Huether Field and a new Summit League format highlight the 2015 schedule for the South Dakota State baseball team.
The Jackrabbits, who finished last season with a 28-29 overall record and an 11-11 mark in league play, are slated to open the 2015 season with three games at a tournament hosted by Austin Peay.

The Jackrabbits evened their record at 2-2, while the Golden Eagles fall to 0-1 in NCEA competition.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa, South Dakota State's Emily Campbell won three events but the Jackrabbits dropped a 158-142 women's swimming and diving dual to Northern Iowa on Saturday.
The senior from Aberdeen won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 7.87 seconds and the 200 breaststroke in 2:25.13. She added a victory in the 200 IM with a 2:13.05 clocking.

ARLINGTON, Second-ranked Arlington scored 26 points in the first quarter and never looked back while completing a perfect regular season (8-0) and winning the Dakota Valley Conference football title outright with a 55-8 victory over Deubrook Area on Friday night.
