SHEBOYGAN, Wis., The South Dakota State men's golf team shot 608 (308-300) on Monday and is in third place at the Whistling Straits Intercollegiate.
Youngstown State leads the way at 596 (301-295) and Valparaiso is second with a 36-hole total of 601 (311-290).

Holm, Kosbau win BCC Labor Day Tournament

BROOKINGS, Scott Holm and Dave Kosbau won the Brookings Country Club Labor Day Tournament on Monday.
The duo fired a 13-under-par 95 in the 27-hole tourney. They shot 32 in best ball on the front nine, 34 in alternate shot on the back and 29 in scramble on the front.

BROOKINGS, The Bobcats dropped both of their matches at Saturday's Jim Holwerda Jamboree at the Hillcrest Tennis Courts to fall to 0-6 on the season.
Mitchell upended the Bobcats, 7-2, before Aberdeen Roncalli dominated play in a 9-0 shutout.
The ‘Cats travel to Madison on Thursday to compete in a triangular with the Lady Bulldogs and Huron.

SIOUX FALLS, The Bobcats dropped below .500 for the season as Washington dominated play in a 5-0 nonconference girls' soccer win on Saturday at Yankton Trail.

ESTELLINE, Despite posting just a 2-2 record, Wolsey/Wessington finished with more match points than Great Plains Lutheran and Hamlin in the Gold Division, to win Saturday's Estelline Invitational.
Estelline went 2-2 to finish second in the silver division while Colman-Egan went 3-1 to win the bronze division.

FARGO, N.D., The South Dakota State men's cross country team placed second out of four teams at the Bison Open on Friday night to open the 2014 season.
The meet was scored based on all possible dual matchups. The Jackrabbits topped Fort Wayne 15-50, North Dakota State 25-30 and North Dakota 21-36. SDSU fell to South Dakota, 23-33.

BROOKINGS, Missouri Valley Football Conference members Missouri State, Southern Illinois and Western Illinois opened the 2014 season with victories Thursday.
The Bears came from behind to beat Northwestern State 34-27. The Leathernecks topped Valparaiso 45-6 and the Salukis cruised past NAIA-member Taylor 45-0.
