Host Cossacks sweep Region 2A team titles

VOLGA, Host Sioux Valley cruised to the team titles at the Region 2A track and field meet Thursday.
The Cossack girls piled up 154 points. Hamlin (116) was second and Deubrook Area (98) third.
In the boys' race, Sioux Valley totaled 145 points and Redfield/Doland was second at 109. The Dolphins (61) finished sixth.

GARRETSON, Four Flandreau individuals and one relay team qualified for state at the Region 3A track and field meet on Thursday.
Tim Parsley advanced in the 300-meter hurdles, winning the event in a time of 42.58 seconds.

Relays lead the way for Bobcats at Wendelgass Invite

HURON, Grace Eggebrecht clocked a time of 16.04 seconds to win the 100-meter hurdles while the Brookings girls won three relays at Thursday's Mark Wendelgass Invite.
The Bobcats posted the top times in the 4x100 (50.51), 4x200 (1:46.5) and sprint medley (4:28.63) relays.

ELKTON, Elkton-Lake Benton and Bridgewater-Emery collected Region 4B team hardware as the Lady Elks took the girls' title with 136 points while the Huskies tallied 129.5 points for the top spot in the boys' chase.

SIOUX FALLS, Bobcat Jonah Dobbs made a splash in his debut at the State Boys' Tennis Tournament on Thursday.
After receiving a first-round bye, the 10th-seeded seventh-grader upended No. 7 Chase Dudley, of Rapid City Stevens, 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 in the second round.
Dobbs takes on Sioux Falls Lincoln's Arjun Choudhry, the No. 2 seed, in today's quarterfinals.
