According to the Secretary of State Web site, District 4 Rep. Val Rausch is seeking re-election this year.

The incumbent Republican candidate lives in Big Stone City. He filed his nominating petition on Jan. 20.

Seats for state senators and representatives in both District 4 and District 7 are opening this year. Besides Rausch, District 4 positions are now held by Rep. Steve Street and Sen. Jim Peterson, both Democrats. District 7 Reps. Larry Tidemann and Carol Pitts are both Republican incumbents, and a Democrat, Pam Merchant, is serving her first two-year term as District 7 senator.
