• Rezoning for new bank building gets first reading
BROOKINGS – If you’re going to the city council meeting on Tuesday, you might want to wear a hard hat. There’ll be so much construction “stuff” on the agenda – new buildings, new zoning plans, rezonings, change orders – that you may need some headgear for protection.
Among the more interesting topics to be introduced at the Aug. 26 session will be a new bank building in the Neighborhood Campus area off Sixth Street, next year’s expansion of the city-owned hospital, and, of course, the 2015 city budget – including another look at subsidies for local nonprofit organizations.
One of the highlights of the session will be a report by Brookings Health System CEO Jason Merkley. It’s his standard quarterly report to council, but Merkley will give the public its first look at plans for a major expansion of the Brookings hospital. For the complete article see the 08-25-2014 issue.
