• Proposed changes also define summer parking during maintenance work
BROOKINGS – On-street parking during snow emergencies and during summer road maintenance will get an airing by the Brookings City Council Tuesday.
Councilors will consider prohibited-parking rules during hearings on a couple of proposed ordinance changes that deal with notifying the public to get or keep their vehicles off city streets.
The ordinance changes result from an incident earlier this winter when a Brookings resident challenged a snow emergency ticket he received. He argued in court that a Sioux Falls television station had broadcast the wrong time for the start of a Brookings snow emergency, and he was unfairly ticketed.
