• Watertown-based technicians, planners help Brookings win grants, loans
BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings partners with a variety of public agencies and private groups to make things happen – the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, for example, and, locally, SDSU and the BEDC come to mind.
But few partnerships have been so fruitful as the city’s relationship with the “First District,” Todd Kays told the city council Tuesday.
Kays, executive director of the First District Association of Local Governments, reminded the council that his specialists helped secure more than $1.42 million in grants for the city in 2012, but even more impressive, assisted in the preparation and submission of applications for more than $34.4 million in state and federal loans.
