County considers ‘emergency’ change-up

• Commissioners contemplating switch from department head to deputy

BROOKINGS – Brookings County seems to have the perfect interim director for its Emergency Management Department, in Bob Hill.

With that in mind, commissioners discussed Tuesday whether they wanted to hire a permanent department head or to make the position a deputy under Hill’s supervision, and whether the emergency management position should be full-time or part-time.

Todd Struwe, previous Emergency Management director, resigned effective Jan. 8. At that time the commission appointed Hill as interim director.
