• City leaders throw support behind BHS Foundation campaign
BROOKINGS – In a show of support, Brookings city councilors reached into their own pockets Tuesday night for the Brookings Health System Foundation’s “Make This House a Home” campaign.
The individual council members put up their own cash to donate to the project, which aims to raise $600,000 by June 1 to pay for furnishings and other amenities at the health system’s new skilled nursing facility, the Neighborhoods at Brookview.
“… The city council endorses and gives its unqualified support to the ‘Make This House a Home’ campaign,” said Mayor Tim Reed as he reviewed the resolution adopted by the council. “And it encourages the community to support the Brookings Health Foundation with this effort to improve health care and the quality of life for Brookings.”
