BROOKINGS – The menu at Brookings High School Thursday included fiesta pizza,
 corn,
 pineapple tidbits, apples,
milk, romaine lettuce,
peas and cooked broccoli, with a BBQ turkey sandwich as the second entrée choice. Students ate quickly and left time to chat with friends in the Bobcat Commons. Asked about the hoopla over changes to school lunch this year, several groups of BHS students hadn’t heard of it. A few did say portions are smaller than they used to be, that they’re overpriced and that they’re limited to one fresh fruit per lunch.

But Brookings students haven’t staged any protests or filmed any music videos in protest.

That’s because, said food service director Mary Tauber, Brookings School District has made changes gradually over the past three years or more.
