On-the-go lawmaker wants to continue with public service

BROOKINGS – Spence Hawley has been spending a little time on the road lately.

As a member of the Legislature’s Oil and Gas Committee, he recently traveled to Pierre for an energy gathering, and from there drove up into North Dakota to get a firsthand look at the “Bakken Boom.”

In July he was in Harding County, talking with residents about the region’s potential as an oil-fracking center.
