Perry Plumart, 64, formerly of Brookings, died May 15, 2022.
A graduate of Brookings High School and SDSU, Plumart was a political strategist in Washington, D.C., where he served on the staffs of Sen. Tim Johnson (D-S.D.), Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sen. James Abourezk (D-S.D.). He also worked for the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission under Commissioner Ken Stofferahn and the South Dakota Farmers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Mary O’Driscoll of Silver Spring, Md.; daughters Margaret Plumart of Minneapolis, Minn., Ellen Plumart of Silver Spring and Meghan Plumart of Athens, Ga.; mother Darlene Plumart of Brookings, brother Larry Plumart (Donna) of Imperial, Mo., and sister Rene Plumart (Phillip Salisbury) of Golden Valley, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father.
