Linda Marie Schulz, age 72, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

No local services are planned for Linda and burial will take place at St. Petri Cemetery in Bruce, South Dakota at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.

Linda was born Aug. 25, 1951, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Arthur and Evelyn (Borstad) Peterson. She grew up in Bruce, SD where she attended school. On Sept. 14, 1968, Linda married Charles “Chuck” Schulz at Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce, SD. Chuck served in the United States Army so they lived at numerous places throughout the country including New Jersey, Hawaii and Colorado. Linda was an amazing mother and stayed home to raise her children. Chuck then became involved in health care administration after his discharge and they lived in Gillette, WY, Lake Preston, SD, Rugby, ND, Deadwood, SD and finally York, NE. They were in York for 21 years before moving to Yankton in 2017 where they enjoyed their retirement. Linda loved camping and sitting around the campfire roasting s’mores and marshmallows, visiting and laughing with everyone while having a cold Kling-On or two. She enjoyed trips to the Black Hills for family reunions. But above all, Linda loved and cherished her family and treasured the time spent with them.

Linda is survived by her husband, Chuck Schulz of Yankton; two children: Shannon (Richard) Lemay of Newalla, OK and Chris (Amy) Schulz of Austin, MN; three granddaughters: Breana Lemay, Lily and Emma Schulz; one great grandson, Leland Lemay; two sisters: Dianne (Dave) Holter of Bruce, SD and Cheryl Poppe of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lee Charles Schulz; three grandchildren born into Heaven: Angel, Caleb and Colton; brother, Curt Peterson; and brother-in-law, Don Poppe.

A memorial has been established at Grace Lutheran Church, PO Box 367, Bruce, SD 57220.
