SILVIS, Ill. — All five Jackrabbits finished inside the top 10 and the South Dakota State women’s golf team won the team title at the WIU Intercollegiate Saturday afternoon. SDSU was led by McKenzie Mages, who earned medalist honors for the first time in her career.

The SDSU squad won by 40 shots over the next closest opponent, host Western Illinois. The Jacks were the only team to record a round under 300 on the weekend, which they did for all three laps, and posted an 886 (+34) final scorecard.

Mages finished with a 219 (+6) 54-hole score. She recorded a 73 (+3) for all three rounds. This is her second top-five placing of the season. Alex Kandolin was just two shots behind her teammate, firing a 221 (+8) for a runner-up finish.

Shakira-Ann Kuys and Reese Jansa tied for fourth place with matching 223 (+10) scorecards. They each fired their best scores of the weekend, a 71 and 72, respectively, on their final laps. Piper Stubbs tied for ninth place with a 230 (+17).

Saturday’s victory is SDSU’s first team win of the season.

Molly O’Hara competed individually. She tied for 30th place (224, +31).

Mages has had the top finish for the Jackrabbits three times this season.

SDSU has a quick turnaround for its next tournament. The team travels to Omaha for Stampede at the Creek Monday and Tuesday.
