Donna Mae (Reinke) Magnus, 90 of Elkton, SD passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at United Parish of Elkton. Visitation with family present will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.on Sunday, Jan. 14, at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Elkton, SD.
Donna was born in Elkton, SD, on June 17, 1933, to Leonard and Audrey (Klees) Reinke. She graduated from Verdi High School in 1951 and continued her education at Mankato Commercial College graduating in 1952. Donna began working at SDSU in Brookings, SD, and it was there she met the love of her life Donald Magnus. Don and Donna were married on Aug/ 12, 1956. They were blessed with two sons, Ryan and Mitchell.
Donna enjoyed her life as a housewife and mother attending her sons’ numerous activities. She was active in her community as a Cub Scout Leader, Guild Officer, volunteered with her church, the local museum and meals-on wheels. She enjoyed socializing with friends and was a member of several Bridge Clubs over the years.
Donna’s grandchildren were the light of her life. She so enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could and attended all their events. She was always so supportive and very proud of them. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family playing cards or board games. She really could be quite competitive even though she always had a smile and gentle demeanor.
Donna is survived by her son, Ryan (Rhonda) Poteau, OK, Daughter-in-law Sharon Magnus, Brookings SD, grandchildren Andrew Magnus, Sioux Falls, SD, Lynsey Magnus, Brookings SD, and Courtney Magnus, FL. sister Beverly Cucci, brother Darrel (Wendy) Reinke, brother-in laws Bill (Barbette), Tom (Charlee) and sisters-in-laws Leona (John) Peters, Judy Magnus and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, son Mitch, parents Leonard and Audrey, her parents-in-law William and Arla Magnus, brothers-in-law James Hourscht, John Cucci, and Van Magnus.
