Anne “Annie” (Wolff) Smolik, 72, of Rapid City, SD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024 surrounded by loving siblings at Serenity Place in St. Martins Village.
A celebration of life and spreading of ashes will take place at a future date.
Anne was born on Jan. 20 1951, to Phil and Kay (Reuland) Wolff in Rapid City, SD.
She attended Cathedral School and graduated from Rapid City High School and studied nursing at the School of Mines before earning her nursing degree from Rapid City Regional School of Nursing later in life.
Anne had two sons (Mike and Matt) with her first husband, Dave Graves of Rapid City.  In July of 1988, Anne married Jim Smolik of Brookings and moved from Rapid City to Brookings, SD, with her two sons.
Anne lived much of her life in service to others, from raising two boys, to serving as a Registered Nurse specializing in orthopedics and home health and hospice care.  After retiring from nursing, she owned and operated “Let it Bead” in downtown Brookings where she was able to express her immense creativity, charm, free-spirit, and goofy sense of humor with anyone who walked through the door.
Anne is survived by her two children: Mike (Amber) Graves of Minneapolis, Matt (Cynthia) Graves of Colorado Springs, her siblings: Mary (Kevin) Jensen, Mike (Deb) Wolff, John (Andrea) Wolff, all of Rapid City, Jim (Cheryl) of Rochford, Kathy (Mike) Frederickson of Minneapolis, and Judy (Petter) Hoegset of Norway.  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ivy Graves, Otto Graves and Alex Graves, as well as numerous brothers and sisters in-law, nephews and nieces.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Kay Wolff, and her husband, Jim Smolik.
The family is grateful for the excellent care given to Anne by St. Martins Village staff. In keeping with Anne’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.
