Anitra M. Holter, 80, passed away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline, SD. Visitation will be held the night prior from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.

Anitra Marie Holter was born on April 16, 1943, in Hendricks, MN, the daughter of Orville and Bernice (Lindus) Heyl. She grew up in Hendricks, attending and graduating from Hendricks High School in 1961. Anitra was united in marriage to Ronald Holter on July 1, 1961, in Hendricks, MN. To this union, five children were born: Kevin, Kent, Brian, Bryce and Darin.

Anitra kept busy raising her family, then started working at Jenkins Nursing Home in Watertown, SD.

She followed this up beginning her career at 3M. Anitra worked on the medical production line at 3M for 20 years before retiring. She worked part-time at the Estelline Journal for something to do following her retirement, she enjoyed this.

Anitra was an honest, hard-working woman who raised her family with love. She enjoyed watching her kids grow up. Anitra and Ronnie never missed any of the kid’s school events, they enjoyed supporting the Estelline Redmen. She was quite an artistic person, often spending her free time coloring, diamond dots or painting on pastels. Anitra loved her dog, “Patches”, a long hair Chihuahua. She enjoyed being at the cabin at Lake Poinsett and drives around the countryside, spotting out wildlife. Anitra was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline and served on the Estelline City Council for some time.

Anitra is survived by five sons, Kevin Holter, of Estelline, SD, Kent Holter, of Brookings, SD, Brian (Deb) Holter, of Tea, SD, Bryce Holter, of Alexandria, SD, and Darin Holter, of Estelline, SD; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother Ardell (Myrna) Heyl of Buffalo, MO; two brother-in-law’s, Dale (Joanne) of Highland Ranch, CO and Myron (Sally) Holter of Topeka, KS; three sisters-in-laws, Adelpha (Leland) Reppe of Bruce, SD, Julie (John) Anderson of Boise, ID and Isabelle Holter; Uncle Harley Lindus and his wife Lois of Grantsburg, WI and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ronnie, her parents, Orville and Bernice (Lindus) Heyl, step-father, Edward Peterson and brother in-law, Wes (Janet) Holter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Hillcrest Cemetery in Estelline.
