CLEAR LAKE – Two women were killed Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash one mile east of Clear Lake.
Names of the people involved are not being released pending notification of families.
A 1998 Lincoln Town Car was westbound on South Dakota Highway 22 about 8:14 a.m. when the vehicle slid into the eastbound lane. It was hit by an oncoming 2016 Peterbuilt Prostar.
Both women in the car, ages 83 for the driver and 86 for the passenger, were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. It is unknown at this time whether they were wearing seatbelts.
The 56-year-old male driver of the semi was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Also on scene was the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office.
