• Board members ‘bombarded’ with comments from both sides of 4-H relocation issue
BROOKINGS – Brookings County has followed state law and created an Extension Board. Now, that board’s members are a little fuzzy on just what they’re supposed to accomplish.
On Tuesday, the Brookings County Commission appointed a final member to the Extension Board: Andy Dupraz of Aurora, who will be one of the board’s two required farmer members. According to its bylaws, the board must include one county commissioner – currently Stephne Miller – and six at-large members.
The Extension Board has yet to meet, but its members have apparently already had their ears bent by those interested in where the county’s 4-H program will be located. Commission Assistant Stephanie Ellwein said she was contacted by an Extension Board member asking for direction.
